Dr. Donald Hilty is a scholar in psychiatric and medical education, health services, and telemedicine. He is the Chair and Program Director for Kaweah Delta Medical Center and Professor at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. He researches models of care with an AHRQ RCT comparing synchronous and asynchronous telepsychiatry, as well as social media, mobile health and psych app technologies.
Dr. Hilty is Editor of both the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science and Psychology and Cognitive Science, and is Editor of the Innovation in Technology Column for Academic Psychiatry. He has written 200 publications and the book entitled Key Issues in e-Mental Health by Springer Publishing. He is on the APA-IOM and ATA’s Child and Adolescent Telemental Health Guideline Writing Groups. He is Guest Editor for a Special Edition for Academic Psychiatry entitled, “Tele- and E-Behavioral Health: Evidence-Based Approaches for Telepsychiatry to Social Media/Networking to Psych Apps.”
