Dr Kelvin MP Wang is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Master of Nursing programme at the School of Nursing, the University of Hong Kong. His research mainly focuses on tobacco control, smoking cessation, alcohol use and misuse, health information communication technologies and community-based participatory research. He is the principal investigator of several research projects, including large randomized controlled trials that evaluate complex mHealth interventions (e.g., mobile instant messaging, chat bot) for promoting health behaviours and positive mental health; studies on problematic use of mobile information and communication technologies; and the Family & Health Information Trend Surveys (FHInTS, in collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health & Dana Farber Cancer Institute). He has published a number of related research papers in international, high impact journals.

Dr Wang has also been appointed as a member of the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health, a statutory body on tobacco control policy advocacy. He is also a member of the Promotion Sub-committee, Health Care and Promotion Scheme, Food & Health Bureau, the Government of HKSAR, to evaluate grant proposals on health promotion. He has also been invited as an observer and presenter in the WHO (WPRO) Regional Forum on Protecting Young People from Harmful Use of Alcohol (2016).
