Karen Colorafi, PhD, MBA, RN, Assistant Professor in the Washington State University (WSU) College of Nursing (CON), studies and teaches the use of health information technology for engaging patients and families in their health and healthcare. As a nurse and clinical analyst, she has expertise in clinical workflows, quality improvement, patient engagement, health care big data analytics, care coordination, cardiac care of older adults, health literacy, science of healthcare delivery, and delivery reform. She has worked as a Clinical Informaticist for the last 15 years, predominately in a consulting capacity helping ambulatory care physicians to select, implement, and optimize electronic health records. In her work, she utilizes a “people, process, product” philosophy to reach quality improvement goals directed toward Triple Aim objectives.
